Help us choose our logo

February 12, 2009 | by SMC of SLC

Attention Social Media Club of Salt Lake City!

Since each of us has a personal interest and individual ownership in our new Social Media Club chapter, we’d like everyone to vote on our chapter logo.

Here are your two choices:

Logo Option A

Logo Option B

Please vote in the comments section below.

We’ll announce the winner of our collective consensus at next week’s meeting.

Huge thanks to Spencer Henderson and his talented wife, Angie Jantz, for volunteering their graphic design skills to help us put this together.

Now, exercise your right to vote! But please, only one vote per person.

  1. Dan Sorensen

    I vote B.

I think it gives us a different feel than just any regular social media club.

  2. Brad McCall

Definetly logo Option A. The mountains are cute, but provide extra visual detail (”junk”) to the otherwise simple bubble quote.

I’d also recommend capitalizing Salt Lake City and perhaps choosing a consistent font choice across both sets of text. “SOCIAL MEDIA CLUB (All Caps), Salt Lake City (Mixed Case).” (Same Font)

Nice next step with your identity!

  3. Rick Galan

I vote A. I like the cleaner look.

  4. Zach Holmquist

    A for sure . . . I agree with Brad’s comment – the mountains are a bit much.

  5. charles

I liked the mountains at first but they are kind of crowding that way, so I vote B

  6. Matt Storms

    I vote B

  7. Royce Williard

    I vote B

  8. Adam Findley

    Also Voting B.

  9. sunny hunt

I vote A. Clean and Simple.

  10. Megan

    I vote A. Hands down

  11. Craig Cleveland

    K.I.S.S. = a vote for option A

  12. Jana Francis

I vote for crisp and clean A. I like the mountains but it takes away from the quotation a bit.

  13. JB

    A. But isn’t the speech bubble already being done by a lot of social media companies… or is that the point?? ;-)

  14. Bonnie Parrish-Kell

A view from glitzy Vegas: gotta love your mountains but Option A will work better esp. when it gets teeny-weeny as a favicon or other image.

  15. Molly

I like the idea of the mountains – Salt Lake City. Option B

  16. Jan Elkins

I vote for A. Nice and clean

  17. Kyle Henderson

    A. The mountains are cute but are just “noise.” I agree that the fonts should be consistent.

  18. Laura Goulding

Definitely A. Less is more, and I’m not a big fan of “cute” logos.

  19. Linda

    vote for A – cleaner

  20. Aaron

Absolutely A. We’re so much more than mountains.

  21. Diana McKee

The mountains are cute but A is much less cluttered. Therefore, I vote for A.

  22. Sterkworks

I vote option A. Option B is too busy and the eye doesn’t know where to look first.

  23. Sarah Buhr

B it says who we are and gives us a nice, different twist.

  24. Jessei Shupe

A for sure! Not even a question–clean and simple. Mountains may seem out of place to some people–a little too random in the logo.

  25. Emily Hill

I think A is the best–really clean, easy to read. The mountains detract too much from the rest of the logo.

  26. Scott

    I vote for option A.

  27. Tyler Hartle

    Option A most definitely!

  28. Grant Ruby

    Definitely like B better.

  29. Dennis

I vote A. I like the mountains, but prefer less clutter.

  30. Jordan Kasteler - Utah SEO Pro

    A

  31. JOhn Dye

    A

  32. Naz

    Option A! yep, def.

  33. Skibjork

My vote is B – gotta have the mountains. Nice graphic by the way, kudos.

  34. Mike Kingsley

    Vote for A

  35. Jordan LeBaron

    My vote is for “A”

  36. Eric Hoffman

“A” and I’m with @Brad McCall in using the same font.

  37. David

    I definitely prefer A.

  38. Candace

I vote A for when we are using it in a small form, and B when it’s larger…or when it stands alone like on a T-Shirt…is that even doable??

  39. JD

    Definitely A

  40. Seth Larson

    I VOTE A – ALL THE WAY.

    Croc’s Rock

  41. Jack Hadley

    Hands down, option A.

  42. Jesse Harding

    No Question – A

The mountains are unnecessary and muddy up the design

  43. Tom McConnon

    I vote A, I’m a minimalist.

  44. Deborah Lindner

I vote for A……agree with the person who thinks the mountains are not necessary.

  45. Brad Rutledge

Love the idea of including an icon that differentiates SLC – and love mountains too.

But, I don’t love the current design with mtns. Would love to see another option including mtns – until then:

    I vote for A.

Mentioning ‘love’ 4 times – must be close to V-Day.

  46. Antonio Lima

I think that option A feels like the better logo for an organization, but I like option B. I’m going with B.

  47. Kris Beldin

I prefer B, but would suggest the green box wasn’t a little text/pull quote box, that design element is over-used today.

  48. Roxy Cross

In a national and international forum I like the distinction of the mountains. Looking at a bigger picture, I vote for B. We may have mountains out any given window in Utah, but not everyone enjoys that gift!

Happy Valentine’s Day my SMCSLC friends! Lots of Love to you today and everyday! Roxy

  49. Heather Seals

    option A

  50. Channa Connolly

Are we still taking design entries?

  51. John Y.

    I vote option A! :)

  52. Channa Connolly

Just in case you were still looking for logo idea input, I went ahead and posted an alternate mountain motif logo (a little softer mountain look), as well as a “gathering of people” logo idea on the SMCSLC Facebook page under the photos section…

  53. Eric Hamilton

    B is for Better.

  54. Jeri Cartwright

I vote for A. Every logo in Utah has mountains. I like the clean, simple look.

  55. Drew Tyler

“A” and I’m with the others that desire using the same font in both the SMC and the SLC

  56. Rebecca Servoss

I vote for logo {A}… Nice work!

  57. logowhiz

hmm… they look almost the same but I think I like Option B.

  58. Jomaass

I vote for A. Simple and modern. Not crazy about the mountains.
