July 16 tweetup
July 9, 2009 | by Pete Codella, APR
Many of you have already RSVPd to join us at Park City next Thursday for our summer social. It will be fun to explore, ride the Alpine Slide and enjoy some good networking time together.
By the way, we think Park City Mountain Resort rocks! They’ve been so gracious to open their facility to us and provide Alpine Slide tickets to chapter members. Thank you, thank you.
If you’re interested in car pooling, please post your request online using the #smcslc hashtag so we can band together and ensure everyone who wants to attend has a ride up the canyon.
Tweetup Program
As promised, we’re providing an update on the theme of our tweetup for next week.
We hope you’re aware by now of the Utah Social Media Awards (USMA) to be held Nov. 6, 2009 at Noah’s in South Jordan.
We’re going to make the awards the focus of our one-hour tweetup.
The Utah Social Media Awards are the state’s first awards program created to recognize excellence in social media practitioners and practices throughout Utah.
They’re also the first (to our knowledge) annual awards program presented by any Social Media Club chapter. We believe Salt Lake City is leading the social media world by example. If you’re aware of other Social Media Club awards programs, please do let us know.
We’re asking everyone to bring their phones, computers, cameras and video cameras to help us create content for the USMA.
We plan to:
- Accept online and written nominations for the USMA
- Tweet about the awards
- Film and publish video interviews asking people who they’re going to nominate
- Take and publish pictures of the activity that occurs at the tweetup
We’re using next Thursday’s tweetup as a workshop to produce fresh, new and compelling content focused on the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City and Utah Social Media Awards.
We hope you’ll join us and that you’ll participate in the creation and promotion of the world’s first Social Media Club sponsored annual awards program.

In Addition
We have also arranged with Park City Mountain Resort to have them report for a few minutes regarding their use of social media, what has worked for them and how they’re delivering value for their resort through the effective use of social media channels.
