Chapter Info

Thank you to founding member Malcolm Atherton

June 15, 2009 | by Pete Codella, APR

The Social Media Club of Salt Lake City is fortunate to have a healthy group of working professionals and volunteers to get things done. One of our volunteers, who also happens to be one of the driving forces behind the organization of SMC of SLC last fall, is Malcolm Atherton who works for Business Wire in Phoenix.

Malcolm is a consummate professional and excellent social media practitioner. I have known him for years.

Unfortunately, due to his distant proximity to Salt Lake City and current work load at Business Wire, Malcolm has tendered his resignation as a member of the 2009 leadership team for SMC of SLC.

Please join me in expressing true, deep appreciation to Malcolm for all he’s done for our humble little chapter this year (feel free to comment below).

To fill the large void created on the leadership team with Malcolm’s absence, we are happy to introduce you to a Salt Lake City native son, Brian Seethaler (@seethaler). Brian is the director at Redirect Community.

Brian and I gave a presentation on social media in May at the Utah Arts Council Mountain West Conference on the Arts. I enjoyed working with him so much I thought he’d be a perfect fit to help move things forward for the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City.

Brian’s role will be partnership director. He’ll be representing the chapter on all matters of sponsorship and partnership.

We’re really looking forward to working with Brian.

Thank you, Pete (and Jyl, and Sara, and Hilarye, and Scott). I will do my best to schedule my trips to SLC during SMCSLC meetings and hope that I’ll be able to chip in one way or another as time rolls on.

Y’all did a great job getting this chapter where it is now and I’m excited to watch – albeit from afar – the chapter’s progress.

    Cheers!
