Utah Social Media Awards set for this fall
June 20, 2009 | by Pete Codella, APR
In case you haven’t heard the news, the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City has announced the first Utah Social Media Awards.
The event — an evening that includes a silent auction, dinner, program with keynote speaker and awards presentation, along with plenty of networking before, during and after — is set for Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 beginning at 6 p.m. at Noah’s in South Jordan.
The Utah Social Media Awards were created by the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City to recognize excellence in social media practitioners and practices throughout Utah.
Beginning in July, we’ll accept nominations by SMC of SLC members for anyone in the state of Utah — a person or company — that you want to nominate for an award. When you nominate at UtahSocialMediaAwards.info, you’ll also have to tell us why you think that individual or organization deserves an award.
The awards will be given by category of social media tool, for best use of a blog, Twitter or a YouTube channel, etc. Some preliminary categories have been identified and the awards are open to any additional categories (social media tools) our members feel are appropriate.
For categories with dozens of entries, the Utah Social Media Awards planning committee will select a handful of finalists.
All the finalists in each category will be judged by a set of very qualified out-of-market judges who may also be members of the Social Media Club and are experts and renowned social media practitioners in their own right.
Tickets for the Utah Social Media Awards are available now on the awards website.
Finalists for the Utah Social Media Awards will be notified by the planning committee several weeks before the Nov. 6 awards night.
The Social Media Club of Salt Lake City leadership team encourages all members to participate in the call for nominations.
If you have any questions, please consult the awards website at UtahSocialMediaAwards.info.
We’re looking forward to recognizing some of the best and brightest uses of social media in Utah.
