What is #smcslc?

March 3, 2009 | by Pete Codella, APR

Although most Social Media Club of Salt Lake City blog readers are in the know when it comes to Twitter hashtags, there are some who aren’t.

In the social media spirit of inclusion and information, I thought it would be helpful to point out what #smcslc on Twitter means.

The hashtag is the pound symbol used as a tag on Twitter. It’s just like tags or keywords, on your blog or website.

For more information, TwiTip has a good article about hashtags: Tweet Your Message to a Larger Audience with Hashtags.

To see what’s being said on Twitter about the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City, go to Search.Twitter.com and enter #smcslc.

Did you know that during our March meeting #smcslc was the number one trending topic on Twitter for a half-hour or so? That means of all the Twitter conversations, ours was most popular. Way to go Salt Lake City!
